These four stylish antique solid silver salt cellars which are by silversmith Thomas Smily date from the 1870's, are each marked with the maker's marks and date and are a good weight.
These unusual Victorian salts are of excellent quality with the top edge having a castle turret design, have a swag pattern to the outer, sit on raised feet and are nicely gilded to the insides.
Materials: Sterling Silver.
Date: 1872 & 1873.
Maker: Thomas Smily.
Hallmarks: Marked with the maker's marks for Thomas Smily. Lion for Sterling Silver. Leopard's head for London. 2 have the date letter r for 1872 and 2 have the date letter s for 1873.
Dimensions: Diameter: 4.5 cm (1 3/4"). Height: 3.3 cm (1 1/4").
Total weight for the four: 106 g.
Condition: Excellent antique condition with light signs of use in keeping with age. Please see pictures.
