This handsome trophy which has three crossed golf clubs on a silver base is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1948 and is by Alexander Clark & Co Ltd.
The vintage trophy has an AE Penfold golf ball mounted between the handles of the clubs and sits on it's black base that has an interesting inscription on a plaque that reads:
Sundridge Park Golf Club. Ball With Which WJ Saunders Esq Drove Himself In As Captain. Sunday 4th May 1947.
This plaque is marked with the maker's mark for Alexander Clark & Co Ltd and also marked with Silver.
Sundridge Park Golf Club was founded in 1901 and are still open today.
This golfing trophy would make a great collector's piece.
Hallmark: Lion for sterling silver. Anchor for Birmingham. Date letter Y for 1948 and maker's mark AC Co Ld for Alexander Clark & Co Ltd.
Dimensions: Diameter at bottom of black base: 9.5 cm (3 3/4"). Height to top of trophy (not including ball): 14.5 cm (5 3/4").
Total weight: 168 g.
