This fabulous wooden Bird Head war club which dates from the 19th century has a wonderful patina and originates from New Caledonia.
This antique Go Porowa Ra Maru club which is hand carved with a pointed head to resemble a bird's head / beak also has the usual stepped handle and has a rich patina.
These clubs were prestigious items that were used by chiefs of the Kanak Tribe in New Caledonia to symbolize wealth and high rank and on some occasions served as gifts during ceremonial exchanges.
A very nice antique collectible piece that displays well.
