Vintage Real Tennis Racket. Grays Cambridge Lop Sided Tilt Head Racquet.

Stock Number: GRTR3626

£195.00 GBP

This vintage Real Tennis racket has a lop sided head with gut stringing, the Grays of Cambridge logo and has a long square handle which is marked with Strung by H. D. Johns, Lords.

Grays of Cambridge is one of the only two companies in the world still hand-crafting these racquets. H. D. (Henry) Johns in charge of Lord's second court for more than fifty years was a master player.

Real Tennis is the original and oldest of all the racket sports, dates back many hundreds of years and is played in an indoor court which has high walls and a ceiling. The rackets are designed with a lop sided head to help strike the ball when it is close to the corners of the court or the floor and the handles are longer than lawn tennis rackets. Real tennis rackets are still being made today but lawn tennis is more popular nowadays.

This collectible vintage racket would make an interesting display item or a museum piece.
