This stunning Victorian spirit hip flask which has a detachable solid silver cup and hinged flip / bayonet top is made by renowned silversmith James Dixon & Sons in the late 19th century.

The outer of the top half is covered in rich dark brown snakeskin effect genuine leather, there is a sight level on both sides and the flask is a nice medium size so it slips into a pocket nicely, making it a wonderfully tactile and usable item.

The bayonet top cap seals well and does not leak.

No inscription or monogram.

Material: Handsome silver hip flasks of this age and fine condition are a rare find being over 120 years old and this example would make a really special usable gift.

Lion for Sterling Silver and Crown for Sheffield. Date letter c for 1895. We can date this flask exactly to the end of 1894 to the beginning of 1895 because of the two date letters.

Condition: In excellent antique condition with only very light signs of use in keeping with age. A very clean and tidy flask. The hinged lid closes perfectly with no leaks. The cup slides on and off of the flask well and stays firmly in place. The leather is in very sound condition. Please see pictures.
