This handsome vintage hip flask which has a detachable hallmarked silver cup and hinged flip / bayonet top was made by renowned silversmith James Dixon and Sons in 1940 and retailed by John Bagshaw & Sons, Liverpool.

The top half of the glass body is covered in a beautiful brown leather, the flask has a sight level on both sides, the bayonet top is tight and seals well so does not leak and the detachable cup is in beautifully clean condition.

A clean and usable vintage flask in great condition that has a nice tactile feel so would make a wonderful gift.

Hallmarks: Fully hallmarked for silver, Crown for Sheffield, makers mark J.D & S for James Dixon and Sons. Date letter X. Hallmarked to the cup and top.

Also marked to the base of the cup with the retailer's name: John Bagshaw & Sons, Liverpool. 1/4 pt. +A.

Dimensions: 14.5 cm (5 3/4") High. 9.5 cm (3 3/4") Wide. 3 cm (1 1/4") Deep.

Total weight: 290 grams.

Condition: In excellent used antique condition with only very light signs of use in keeping with age. A very clean and tidy flask. The hinged lid closes tightly with no leaks. The cup slides on and off of the flask well and stays firmly in place. The leather is in excellent condition with just a little staining. The silver and glass is in excellent condition with no splits, breaks or chips. One tiny flat spot on one of the corners. Some very light surface scratches. No monogram. Please see pictures.
