This wonderful Russian Icon which dates from the 19th century is of St Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra and is finely hand painted in the traditional manner in egg tempera and gesso on a wood panel.

The icon which is painted in ochre and sienna tones shows St Nicholas holding an open gospel in one hand and raising his other hand in a gesture of benediction.

This antique Russian icon would make a great collector's piece and looks stunning on display.

Material: Wood panel. Egg Tempera. Gesso.

Date: 19th century.

Size: Height - 30.5 cm (12"). Width - 27 cm (10 1/2").

Weight: 1200 grams.

Condition: Excellent antique condition with the usual signs of age with cracking, flaking, small chips and wear leaving a wonderful look. No worm. One insert splint on the back. Please see pictures.
