French Quoits Set. Rare Georgian Ringtoss Parlour Game in Box. c1830.

This extremely rare set of quoits which dates from c1830 originated in France and consists of four round quoits of which two have a red velvet material covering and two have a green velvet material coverings.

This Georgian era set also comes complete with it's four wooden poles which also have velvet handles so was ideal for a group of four to play. Comes in a box.

This would be played by tossing the quoits to each other and catching them on the poles.

An interesting set that is a wonderful piece for any games enthusiast or antique sporting goods collector. A museum piece and a rare find.

A game of ringtoss features in a hand coloured etching that is in the British Museum called Jeu de bague volante and dates from 1818.

Date: c1830.

Dimensions of box: Length: 52 cm (20 1/2"). Width: 24 cm (9 1/2"). Height: 7 cm (1 3/4").

Total weight: 758 g.

Condition: Well used antique condition with lots of wear, fading and loss to velvet in keeping with age. Lots of wear to box with some tears and holes. Please see pictures.
