This handsome antique oil painting of early 19th century pugilist Thomas Belcher which dates from c1905 is a copy of the original 1811 painting by Thomas Douglas Guest.

Tom Belcher, was scarcely inferior as a pugilist. He won battles in succession with Dan Dogherty, the 'Young Ruffian' John Firby, and some fighters of less repute.

This oil has nice detail and looks very stylish on display.

Date: Edwardian - c1905.

Medium: Oil Painting.

Frame Size: 29 cm x 23.5 cm. 11 1/2" x 9 1/2" approx.

Framed and glazed in the original antique frame.

Condition: Artwork is in very good condition. The frame has small chips, cracks and some small areas of veneer are missing. There is some fluff / dust beneath the glass. Please see pictures.
