This handsome antique tankard style jug which is an extra large size is made by John Grinsell & Sons, dates from c1890 and is made of English oak. This pitcher has silver plated band fittings, a wonderful decorative pouring spout, hinged lid with top finial, a large stylish side handle and a front support handle.

This great looking jug is a nice decorative piece that has two vacant shields so would make an unusual trophy that could be engraved if you so wished.

This tankard is double walled so would have been originally used for keeping liquids cool. Today, due to it's impressive size this would make a unique champagne / wine bottle holder or just a wonderful display piece.

Condition: Very good used antique condition with light signs of use in keeping with age. Some light surface scratches and tarnishing. Inner lining has cracks. The coopered wood has the usual joint shrinkage. A nice decorative piece. Please see pictures.
