This fabulous Victorian silver plate meat cover by James Dixon which dates from the 19th century is a good large size making it perfect for covering a roast or Christmas turkey.

The wonderful plain design with a simple beaded border is offset with a fancy handle for easy lifting and the cover has an inside folding hook for wall hanging.

This cover is by well known silversmith James Dixon so is excellent quality and a good heavy gauge. Covers of this quality and in super condition are hard to find.

Measurements: approx 41 cm long (16in), 31 cm wide (12in) and 28 cm (11in) high including handle.

Weight: 2.2 kg approx.

Date: Late 19th century. c1880.

Material: Silver Plate.

Marked with the Trumpet maker's mark and JD&S for James Dixon and EP for Electro Plated Silver.

Condition: Very good used antique condition. Signs of use in keeping with age. Some light scratches and a few of very small dings. Plate is in very good condition. The inside is very lightly seasoned with some tarnishing.
