This antique spirit hip flask which has a detachable silver plated cup and hinged flip / bayonet top has the outer of the top half covered in brown crocodile effect leather with a sight level on both sides and is in excellent usable condition.

The bayonet top is tight and seals well so does not leak. The detachable cup has a gilt interior and is in beautifully clean condition.

The flask which is by renowned silversmith James Dixon & Sons has a wonderful tactile feel and an interesting engraving to the cup of a stag's head and a beautiful monogram. A stag's head is also engraved to the top.

A nice clean and usable flask by a good quality maker that would make a wonderful gift.

Marks: Maker's mark: JD&S and trumpet mark for James Dixon & Sons to both the collar and bottom of the cup. Marked 4 1/2 DWT and a number 1 to the bottom of the cup.

Condition: In excellent condition with only very light signs of use in keeping with age. A very clean and tidy flask. The hinged lid closes tightly with no leaks. The cup slides on and off of the flask well and stays firmly in place. The leather is in excellent condition. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips. One tiny ding to the side of the cup.
