This handsome large spirit hip flask which has a detachable solid silver cup and hinged flip / bayonet top is made by renowned silversmith James Dixon & Sons and retailed by Drew & Sons in 1923.

The outer of the top half is covered in stylish dark brown leather, there is a sight level on both sides and the flask is large, making it a wonderful usable item.

The bayonet top seals well and does not leak. The detachable cup has a gilt interior which is in nice usable clean condition.

The flask cup and top has the monogram G.L.

A lovely usable item that would make a wonderful gift.

Hallmarks: Fully hallmarked for silver, Crown for Sheffield, makers mark J.D & Sons for James Dixon and Sons. Date letter g for 1924 on the cup and f for 1923 on the top.

Hallmarked to the cup, top and collar.

Marked to the base: 5/8 pt (Holds 5/8 of a pint) 300ml.

Condition: In good antique condition with signs of use in keeping with age. A very clean and tidy flask. The leather has dried out and flaked away / some missing around the sight level on one side. The hinged lid closes perfectly with no leaks. The cup slides on and off of the flask well and stays firmly in place. Silver is in very good condition with some very light surface scratches and a tiny flat spot on one corner of the cup. The glass is in very good condition with no splits, dents, chips or damage.
