This large Indian bronze Urli or temple bowl, with a scroll handles and fish decoration probably dates from the early part of the 20th century but could be earlier.

These traditional cooking pots have extensively used in South India and wooden poles were inserted through the loop handles at each side to lift them onto open fires. Now Urlis are used as a decorative bowl to float flowers which is a part of South Indian tradition.

Being made of heavy bronze they can be used inside or outdoors as wonderful decorative pieces.
