This nice pair of decorative fencing foils / epees which have steel blades, brass and leather guards, brass pommels and bound grips on rectangular wooden handles are marked France and date from the late 19th century.

It is unusual to find a matching pair in such good condition and these have not been cleaned so are in nice original condition.

A very nice pair of collectable foils that are perfect decorative display items that look wonderful on display in the home and ideal for use in a hotel, bar or man cave.

Fencing was a popular sport in Europe so there were many gentleman's private fencing clubs towards the end of the 19th Century.

Date: Late 19th Century - c1890.

Dimensions: 110 cm (43 1/2") Length.

Weight: 740 grams for the pair.

Condition: Very good antique condition with wear and an overall patina. Blades are straight and true, nicely-tempered and retain lots of their original springiness. Blades have some rust and pitting. They have not been over cleaned and are perfect for display. A nice pair of decorative foils. Please see pictures.
